Bristol Construction Services, LLC, has begun work to build soldiers a better barracks in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, awarded Bristol Construction the $5.2 million contract to renovate the aging Fort Bragg barracks building on October 1, 2008. But work was delayed until late January to allow the Army time to move soldiers to different living quarters.
Work will include architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical demolitions and renovations of the barracks wing and two Company Operations Facilities (COFs), as well as re-roofing two COF wings and the barracks wing of the Army Housing Committee barracks building.
Many of the soldiers using the facility are going to Iraq or just returning. Bristol is proud to be part of this vital project, said CEO Joe Terrell, who added: “People who are putting their lives on the line deserve a decent place to live when they return.” Work began in late January with demolition of the barracks. The project is expected to be completed by February 2010.
